A One Ekta Salon

A One Ekta Salon is located in Katrasgarh, right near the Railway Mall Godown in Dhanbad. Being so close to the railway means we hear the trains whistling and the heavy sounds of the wagons moving all day and night. It’s an industrial sort of area, and my customers are mostly the men who work around the railway or in the local shops. I’ve been at this spot for several years now. The shop is small and a bit cramped when there are more than three people inside. I have one main chair and a smaller one for kids. The walls are covered with a few old calendars and a mirror that has a small crack in the corner, but it doesn't get in the way of seeing. Dhanbad is a dusty place because of the coal, so I’m always wiping down my tools and the counter. I use simple scissors and a straight razor that I sharpen myself. There’s no air conditioning, just a small table fan that hums loudly. People come in, sit down, and we talk about the train schedules or the work at the godown. It’s a very practical place. I don't offer any fancy treatments. It’s just a haircut and maybe a shave if you need one. I open early in the morning for the workers starting their shifts. It’s a living, and I’ve become part of the daily routine here in Katrasgarh. The 828113 area is home for me.
