The Indian High School

The Indian High School is right inside the NES Campus here in Shimoga. If you know the area, you know it is a pretty familiar spot for anyone who grew up around 577201. The campus has been around for ages, and we are just one part of that whole scene. It is quite a walk from the main gate to where our rooms are, especially when it is raining hard like it often does in this part of the state. We have old wooden desks that have seen better days, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they hold up. The trees on the campus are huge and provide a lot of shade for the students who like to sit outside during their lunch hour. Most of us have been working here for a long time, so we know the routine like the back of our hands. We don’t have a lot of high-tech stuff, just the basic chalkboards and benches. People come from different parts of Shimoga to be here. In the afternoons, the sound of the final bell is the best part of the day for everyone. You can see the cycles lined up in the stand, and there is a bit of a rush when everyone tries to leave at once. It is a noisy place during the day, but it feels right for a school in this neighborhood. We try to keep the grounds tidy despite all the foot traffic.
