Sharavathi English Medium School

Finding us is pretty easy if you know Vinoba Nagar. Sharavathi English Medium School sits right between 3rd Main and 5th Cross Road. It’s a residential area, so it’s usually quieter than the main markets in Shivamogga, except for when school starts or ends. We’ve been here long enough that the neighbors know us by name. The building has a few floors and we try to keep the hallways clear, though it’s hard with so many kids running around. The stairs are a bit narrow, so we have to watch them during the lunch break. Shivamogga gets a lot of rain, so we spend a good chunk of the year dealing with wet shoes and damp walls. We don't have a giant playground, but the kids find space to play near the gates. Most of the staff live nearby, so we just walk or take a scooter to work. It’s a regular neighborhood school. Nothing is perfect, there’s always a desk to fix or a lightbulb that’s gone out. We just handle things as they come up. We don’t spend much time on fancy decorations; we just make sure there are enough benches and books for everyone who shows up. It’s a busy life on 5th Cross, but it’s what we do. The 577201 area has changed a lot, but our little corner stays mostly the same for the families here.
