Nepal Ch. Dey’s place is where we are, out in Tailyakha Nagar in Bagdogra. It is in the Darjeeling district, so we get some nice views when the clouds clear up. We are close to the airport, so you can hear the planes taking off every now and then. Our work with Kunja Food And Agro Industries Private Limited keeps us pretty occupied. The building is simple and functional. We have a few rooms for processing and a small area where we keep the books. It is a busy spot during the harvest times. We have people from the surrounding villages coming in with their produce or just to see what we are doing. The office part of it has some old metal cabinets and a couple of wooden desks that have seen better days. We do not worry much about the decor. As long as the machines are running and the food is being handled right, we are happy. The tea here is great, obviously, being so close to the gardens. We usually have a pot going for anyone who stops by. It is a relaxed but hardworking environment. We are not a big factory with thousands of workers. We are just a local industry trying to make the most of what the land gives us. People around Bagdogra know the location, so they find us easily enough. We just focus on the day’s tasks.
