We are Kanchanjangha Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited, and we are based up in the hills. Our location is in Parijat Gram, near Bijanbari in Darjeeling. You can find us care of Pemba Tamang. Living and working in Darjeeling-734201 means we deal with a lot of slopes and different weather than the plains. Our company is made up of local farmers who grow all sorts of agro products. It is a beautiful place to work, but the terrain makes everything twice as hard. We don't have fancy trucks; sometimes we have to move stuff by hand or smaller vehicles. We are a producer company, which means the farmers are the ones in charge. We meet up in Parijat Gram to discuss what we are going to plant and how to get it down to the markets. It’s a very honest way of doing things. We don't have a big corporate budget for things like websites or brochures. We just rely on each other. Sometimes the mist gets so thick you can't see the next field, but the work goes on. We handle the paperwork and the distribution from our small base here. It’s a quiet life, mostly focused on the crops and making sure we can support our families. It’s just us, the local farmers, trying to do things right in our part of West Bengal. We take it one season at a time.
