Tufanganj Bhelapeta Farmer Producer Company Limited

This company is run by people right here in Cooch Behar. We are based in Vill and P.O. Charaljani, working out of Mukul Das’s place. Tufanganj is a place where most families have some connection to the land. We started Bhelapeta because we saw how hard it was for single farmers to deal with the markets. Now, we work together. The village of Charaljani is where we all meet up. It’s a quiet spot, but there’s always something going on with the crops. We aren’t a big corporation with fancy offices. We have a small space where we keep our records and meet to discuss the next harvest. Dealing with seeds and transport takes a lot of time, so having this local group helps us share the load. Mukul’s house is a familiar spot for most of us. We talk about the weather, the soil, and how to get things moving. It isn't always easy, and some years are better than others. We don’t have a lot of complicated rules. We just want to make sure the farmers in this part of West Bengal get a fair deal for the hard work they put in. If you walk through the village, you’ll see us out there most mornings. This is just our way of keeping the local farming community going without too much outside interference. There is always a lot of dirt on our boots, but that is just part of the job.
