Gangulbara Navkrishak Farmers Producer Company Limited is based in Doradora. We use Doharam Sharangat’s house as our main point of contact. The name Navkrishak means we are focused on new ways of farming, but we are still very much a local village group. Doradora is a place where everyone knows each other’s business, so setting up this company was a big topic of conversation for a while. We spend a lot of time on the porch talking about the weather and how the soil is doing this year. It’s not a corporate environment at all. You’ll see muddy boots by the door and bags of seeds sitting in the corner. We try to help the younger farmers get a start, sharing what we know and figuring out the market together. The office part of it is just a corner with a laptop and some files. Most of our real work happens out in the sun. It can be exhausting, and some days we wonder why we took on all this extra paperwork. But then we see how it helps us get a better deal for our crops, and it feels worth it. We aren't looking to grow into a giant firm. We just want to keep things steady here in our own little corner of the world.
