Madurai Sri Meenatchi Iyer Idly Shop

Our little shop is right there on Sakthi Main Road, right across from the GP Theater in Gandhipuram. It's a busy part of Coimbatore, especially with the Omni Bus Stand so close by. We focus mostly on idlies and the basic breakfast stuff. It's not a big restaurant where you stay for hours. People usually pop in, eat, and head out to catch their bus or get to work. We start early in the morning because that’s when the travelers are looking for breakfast. The steam from the idly pots fills the front area every morning. We don't have much in the way of decor, just some basic seating and a place to wash your hands. It's a bit loud with the traffic from the bus stand, but you get used to it. We keep the chutneys and sambar ready in big containers. Sometimes we run out of idlies by the evening if it's been a busy day. We just make what we can and sell it until it’s gone. The staff is just a few local people who know how to work fast. It’s a practical place for people on the move. We don’t bother with fancy menus or colorful lights. We just keep the lights on and the food hot. If you're waiting for a bus at the Omni stand, you've probably seen us across the way. It's just a simple idly shop for the neighborhood. That is how we keep things running every day.
