Asthana Stone Processer

Over at 3-2-147 on Vellore Road, that’s where you’ll find Asthana Stone Processer. We’re right in the Greamspet area. It’s a place that stays pretty loud because of the machines we use for the stone. Processing stone isn't exactly a quiet job. We spend a lot of time cutting and smoothing things down to size. The floor is usually covered in some kind of dust or shavings by the end of the day. We try to keep it tidy, but it's a constant battle. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, but it’s where all the work happens. Being on Vellore Road means we see a lot of people passing through. Sometimes they stick their heads in to see what all the noise is about. We just show them the slabs we’re working on. It takes a certain kind of patience to get the edges right. My hands are always covered in grit, and the coffee gets cold before I can finish it. We don't have a marketing team or anyone like that. It’s just us here, doing the work as it comes in. Some days are packed with orders and other days we’re just maintaining the equipment. That’s how a small business works, I guess. We’ve been in Greamspet long enough to know most of the people around here. It feels right being part of the local scene. There is always something that needs to be cut or moved.
