About Sri Mahalakshmi Granites – Building & Construction Material in Chittoor
I run Sri Mahalakshmi Granites out of a small spot at 45-8 in Jangalapalle, over by the Madanapalle Post. It is a quiet area compared to the big cities, but we stay busy enough. The sun really beats down on the yard in the afternoon, which makes the granite slabs almost too hot to touch. I spend most of my morning moving things around with the help of a couple of local guys. We don't have a big office, just a small desk in the corner with a fan that barely works. Most of our customers are neighbors or people from the surrounding villages who are building their first proper house. They come in and touch the stone, asking about how long it will last. I tell them it’s rock, so it’ll probably last longer than the house will. We keep a variety of colors, mostly the darker granites that are popular around here. Sometimes the goats from the nearby field wander into the yard, and we have to shoo them away before they get stuck between the slabs. It’s a slow pace of life, but I like it. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the weather while we wait for the next tractor to come and pick up an order. It’s just how we do things in Jangalapalle, and we don't plan on changing much about how the yard is run.
