Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

This Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is situated in Hiriyur, specifically near the Uduvalli Post in the Chitradurga district. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, but that’s the way these schools are usually set up. The landscape around here is quite dry and open, which gives the campus a very specific look compared to city schools. We have the usual collection of school buildings, dormitories, and staff quarters. Everything is built for utility. You won’t find any marble floors or expensive art here. Instead, you’ll see well-worn paths between the hostel and the main office. The daily routine is what keeps us going. We follow the same schedule every week, from the morning assembly to the late-night study hours. Since we are a bit far from the main town, we have to be pretty self-sufficient. If something breaks, we usually have to figure out how to fix it ourselves or wait for someone to come out from Hiriyur. The teachers and the support staff all know each other well because we live and work in the same small circle day after day. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for when the students are out on the grounds playing sports in the evening. We just focus on the curriculum and making sure the kids are getting through their exams. It’s practical, honest work, and we don’t try to make it sound like anything more than what it is.
