About Ganga Central School – Education in Chitradurga
Ganga Central School sits right off NH 4 on the road leading to Chitradurga. Being near the highway means there’s always a bit of a rumble from the trucks passing by, but we’ve all gotten used to it over the years. Hiriyur is a dry place, so the yard is mostly hard dirt, which is great for playing kabaddi but not so good for keeping clothes clean. We have students coming in from several small villages nearby, often arriving on the school bus or their father’s motorbike. The building is a simple concrete structure that stays relatively cool even when the Chitradurga sun is beating down outside. We have a small office where we keep all the records in big paper files. The teachers aren't into using fancy words; they just explain the lessons and make the kids write them down until they get it right. We have a science lab with a few old microscopes and some jars, which is the highlight for the older students. Every Saturday we have a bit of a cleanup where everyone helps tidy the classrooms. It’s a humble setup, but we take it seriously. We don’t have a big fence or a fancy gate, just a regular entrance that’s open for anyone who belongs here. It’s hard work, but seeing the kids pass their exams and move on makes it worth it for everyone involved in the school.
