Sri Guru Siddarameshwara School

Sri Guru Siddarameshwara School is out here in Tamatadahalli. If you know the Ajjampura area, you know it's a quiet part of the district. We’re tucked away in Tarikere, and mostly we just serve the families from the nearby villages. It’s a pretty place with a lot of greenery around us. The school building isn't anything modern or glass-fronted, it's just a solid place for learning. We have a playground that gets a lot of use during the breaks. The kids come from all over, some walking quite a distance from the farms. Our staff is mostly local people who understand how life goes around here. We follow the usual curriculum, but we also spend a lot of time just talking to the kids about life. It gets dusty in the summer and very green when the rains hit Chikmagalur. We don't really do big advertisements. Most people find out about us just by talking to their neighbors. We try to keep the classrooms tidy, though with kids running in and out, that’s a constant battle. Sometimes the power goes out, or we have to change the schedule because of a local festival, and everyone just adapts. It's a small community school. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just a place where the kids can get their education without having to travel too far into the city. It's a steady life here. We just keep things moving every day.
