Sriram Supermarket

Over here in Vadaperumbakkam, things move at their own pace. Sriram Supermarket is located at 21, Annai Nagar, and we’ve seen a lot of changes in the neighborhood over the years. We open the shutters early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. The shelves are packed with all sorts of things, from rice bags to small packets of biscuits. It’s a lot of work keeping everything in order, and honestly, sometimes a box gets left in the aisle for a bit too long. We know most of the families who live around Annai Nagar. They come in for their weekly groceries or just to grab a single bottle of milk. The fridge hums loudly in the back, and the floor could probably use a good scrub more often than it gets one. We don't have those fancy scanners or high-tech systems like the big malls. We mostly just know where everything is by memory. If someone asks for a specific spice, we can usually point right to it without looking. It gets dusty pretty fast because of the road outside, so we’re always wiping down the counters. It’s just a regular shop for regular people. We don't make a big deal out of it. We’re just here every day, making sure the locals have what they need for their kitchens. It is a steady way to spend the time.
