Sri Sairam Store

Sri Sairam Store is located at No 59 on Village High Road in Sholinganallur, Chennai. We’re quite close to the Sellai Amman Kovil, so you can often hear the temple music from here. The shop is a bit of a hangout for the older folks in the neighborhood who come to buy their daily newspaper or cigarettes. We have a bit of everything, like soaps, biscuits, and bottled water. The shelves are made of wood and have seen better days. It gets very humid here, especially in the afternoons, so we keep the door wide open to catch any breeze. We do all the stocking and cleaning ourselves. It’s a small family-run place, so there’s no corporate talk or fancy uniforms. We just wear what’s comfortable for a long day of work. Sometimes the supply trucks come late, and we have to wait around to get the goods inside. Our counter is usually covered in small jars of candy and loose change. We know which neighbor likes which brand of coffee. It’s a slow pace compared to the big IT parks nearby, but we prefer it this way. Being on Village High Road means we see the same faces every single day. We don’t have a big marketing plan; we just stay open and try to be helpful to whoever walks in.
