Sri Rathna General Store

Sri Rathna General Store is tucked away at 12, Sivaprakasam Road in T Nagar. Chennai is a city that never really stops, and T Nagar is probably one of the busiest parts of it. Our shop is small, and the space on Sivaprakasam Road is always tight with scooters and people walking by. We have been here for a long time, watching the neighborhood change around us. Inside, it’s a bit cramped because we try to keep a little bit of everything. From soap and shampoo to notebooks and pens, we have things stuffed into every corner. The ceiling fan is old and makes a clicking sound, but it helps with the Chennai humidity. We don't have any air conditioning or fancy glass doors. It’s just an open front so people can pop their heads in and ask for what they need. Most of our customers are from the 600017 zip code and they come in for their daily essentials. We keep our accounts in a thick paper notebook because that is how we have always done it. There is a lot of noise from the main roads nearby, but inside the store, it feels like a familiar place. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket, just a local general store that serves the people living and working on Sivaprakasam Road.
