Sri Ramakrishna Matriculation Higher Secondary School

Our school is right on South Street in Tambaram. It has been in this part of Chennai for a good number of years. You can hear the morning prayers from the street if you are walking by early enough. We have the matriculation and higher secondary levels here. The building is a typical Chennai school structure, with long corridors and heavy wooden doors in some places. It gets quite humid here, especially in the afternoons, so the windows are always kept open. Tambaram is a busy area, so there is always the sound of traffic in the background. We have teachers who have been here since they were young. They know all the families in the neighborhood quite well. It is not just a place for lessons; it is where most of us spend our entire day. The playground is not massive, but the kids make it work for football or just running around. We keep the registers updated and make sure the uniforms are tidy, though by lunch, most kids have their shirts tucked out. It is a simple life for us. We do not have fancy air conditioning in every room. We just rely on the breeze and the ceiling fans. Parents stop by the gate to chat with the security guard or the office staff. It feels like a small village inside the big city. We just do our jobs and try to help the students learn their subjects. It is a lot of work but we keep at it.
