Al-Fajr International School

If you head over to Kottivakkam, you’ll find us at 23A in Venkateswara Colony. We’re tucked away near Nehru Nagar on the corner of I Main Road and III Cross Street. It’s a bit of a maze back here if you aren't used to the local streets, but we like the location. It’s away from the heavy traffic of the bigger roads. The school itself is a functional space. We have classrooms for different ages and a small area for outdoor activities. We don't have a massive campus with stadiums, just enough room for the kids to learn and play a bit. The teachers here are mostly concerned with the daily lessons and getting the paperwork done. It’s a lot of work keeping an international school running, but we do our best with what we have. Sometimes the internet goes out or a lightbulb needs changing, and we just deal with it as it comes. We’ve been here in Kottivakkam for a while and have seen the neighborhood grow around us. The building has some character to it, maybe a few cracks in the plaster here and there, but it’s home to us. We just want to make sure the students are learning their lessons and staying safe. There’s no big secret to how we operate; we just show up and do the job. Most afternoons you can see the staff walking to the local tea shop.
