Sri Ram Provisional

Out here in Manali, you can find Sri Ram Provisional at No 4064 on 1st Main Road. We are quite close to Praveen Mall, so there is always some movement around this part of the neighborhood. The shop is filled with all the standard stuff like rice, oils, and the little things people need in their kitchens. It is usually dusty outside from the road work or the wind, so we are always wiping down the counters to keep things decent. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling and sometimes it is hard to reach the top ones without using the old wooden stool. We see a lot of the same people every week. They come in for their monthly stock or just to grab a quick packet of tea. It stays fairly cool inside compared to the hot street outside. Sometimes the delivery trucks take up a lot of room on the road when they bring the new sacks of grain. We just manage the space we have here as best as we can. It’s a local spot where things are done the old way. No computers or big fancy systems, just us keeping track of what is on the shelves and helping whoever walks in. It is a quiet life most of the time, just keeping the shop going day by day in this corner of Chennai.
