Sri Kamadhenu Provision Stores

Our shop is located at No.24 on the 1st Cross Street in Pudur Ashoka Colony. Being in Ashok Nagar means we are right in the middle of a lot of residential houses. Sri Kamadhenu Provision Stores is where the locals come when they realize they forgot to buy something for dinner. It is a small space and we have bags of rice and flour stacked up near the entrance. Sometimes it is a bit of a squeeze to get around the sacks but people do not seem to mind much. We start early in the morning because that is when the milk delivery comes and the neighbors start waking up. There is always something to do, like checking the jars or cleaning the glass containers we keep the biscuits in. It is not a fancy place with bright lights or anything like that. It is just a normal provision store where we know which brand of tea the lady from the third house likes. We have some help to move the heavier bags but mostly it is just us behind the counter. The weather can get sticky here so we drink a lot of water and chat with whoever comes in to escape the sun for a minute. We have seen the kids in this colony grow up and now they come in with their own children. It makes you realize how long we have been standing in this same spot. Just a simple neighborhood shop doing the daily work.
