Sri Durga Store

Sri Durga Store is located in Saidapet, Chennai, specifically on Jeenies Road. This part of Chennai is always moving, and the streets around here can be quite narrow and packed with people at all hours. Our shop is just a small space where we keep all the daily essentials tucked into every available corner on the walls. It’s quite old-fashioned in a way. We have big glass jars sitting on the front counter and wooden shelves that go all the way to the high ceiling. Finding things can be a bit of a puzzle if you don't know where we put them, but we usually know exactly where everything is hiding. The air in Saidapet is often humid and heavy, so we try to keep the front door open to get some breeze, even if it brings in all the noise from the street traffic. We get a lot of people who are just passing through on their way to the train station or the bus stop nearby. They usually want something small, like a bottle of cold water or a packet of biscuits to eat. Then there are the people who have lived in these streets for decades and come to us because we are close by their homes. We spend a lot of our day just chatting with them while we weigh out things. It’s not a high-tech operation at all.
