Sri Amman Store

We are situated at number 235 on Pillayar Koil Street in Padi. It’s a well-known area in Chennai, specifically around Mannurpet. Our store, Sri Amman Store, is very close to the Pillayar Temple. Most people use the temple as a landmark when they are trying to find us. Being on this street means it gets quite crowded during the festival times. We see a lot of people coming and going all day long. The store itself is quite simple. We have shelves lining the walls and a counter at the front. We don't have a lot of space, so we have to be smart about where we put things. It’s a lot of work keeping everything clean because of the dust from the street. We usually start the day by dusting the bottles and packets. Chennai can be very humid, so it’s often a bit sticky in the afternoons. We just keep the fan running and wait for the evening when it cools down a bit. We don't have any fancy technology here. We just use a basic ledger and a small calculator for the bills. Most of our customers are people who live in the houses nearby. We know their faces and what they usually buy. It makes the job feel a bit more personal. We just take things one day at a time and try to keep the shop running smoothly.
