You can find us at Plot Number 8 on Rettai Pillaiyar Koil Street Extension. We go by Sree Venkateswara Boli Stall & Hotchips Llp. It’s a mouthful of a name, but most people just call us for the snacks. The shop is usually quite busy in the evenings when people are heading home from work. We have big frying vats for the chips and a hot griddle for the bolis. It gets quite warm in there, especially during the summer months in Chennai. We start early in the morning, getting the batter ready and slicing up the plantains or potatoes. There is always a lot of oil being used, so the floor can get a bit slick if we aren't careful with the cleaning. We don’t have a website or anything like that. If people want to know what we have, they just walk up to the counter and look at the glass jars. Sometimes we run out of certain items by five o'clock and customers get a little disappointed, but we only make what we can handle for the day. It’s better to have things fresh than sitting around. The street outside is narrow, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze when the delivery trucks come by. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and the locals know us pretty well. It’s just a regular snack stall doing regular business every day.
