Balaji Akro Foods

We are tucked away on First Street in Kamaraj Nagar, over in Korattur. It’s house number 11, so it’s easy to find if you’re looking for it. The street is mostly quiet compared to the main roads, which is nice for us when we are working. We handle all kinds of food products here, mostly packing and sorting things out before they go to the local shops. The building isn't brand new, but it's sturdy and keeps the sun off the products. I spend a lot of my time in the back area where we keep the stock. It’s organized in a way that only we really understand, with crates stacked up high against the walls. Sometimes the neighbors come by to chat, or a delivery driver gets lost and we have to point them the right way. We aren't a big corporation with people in suits; we usually just wear what's comfortable for moving boxes around all day. The floor gets a bit scuffed from the heavy lifting, but we don't mind much. We use a small computer for the billing, but a lot of the notes are still written by hand in a big ledger we keep on the main desk. It feels more real that way. Lunch is usually brought from home and eaten quickly so we can get back to work. It’s a steady life, just making sure the food gets out to where it needs to be every day. We close the gates around six.
