You can find Siva Sakthi Store at No 53 on East Mada Street in Thiruvanmiyur. Being near the temple means there is always something going on outside our door. The street is always full of people, especially during festival times. Our shop is quite simple. We have the usual grocery items stacked up to the ceiling. It can get a bit dark inside when the power goes out, but we have a small light to keep things going. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place organized because things tend to get messy when we're busy. There’s no big management team here, just us doing the work every day. We don't use fancy software for the billing; we mostly just remember the prices or look at the labels. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when it's hot outside. We sell a lot of flowers and puja items too, because of where we are located. It’s a noisy spot with the temple bells and the traffic, but we like the energy. Most of our customers are locals who have lived in Thiruvanmiyur for decades. We don't have a big sign with lights, just the name painted on the board. It’s a modest way to make a living, and we’ve been at it for a good while at No 53.
