Shindhana Stores

I usually get to Shindhana Stores quite early because Mudichur Road starts getting busy way before most people are even awake. Being here in Tambaram West means there is always a lot of noise from the traffic and people rushing to the station nearby. My desk is tucked in the back where I can see the front door and the shelves at the same time. We have a lot of different things piled up, from bags of rice to smaller household items that people realized they forgot at the last minute. The floor gets a bit dusty from the road outside, so we spend a lot of time sweeping it out. It is not a huge place, but we make use of every inch of space we have on the walls. Sometimes the fans don't quite keep up with the heat in the afternoon, but we just deal with it. I spend most of my day checking what came in on the morning trucks and making sure things are where they belong. It is just a regular shop where we know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. We have been at 435 Mudichur Road for a while now, and the routine hasn't changed much over the years. Some days are faster than others, but mostly it is just about keeping things moving and making sure the shelves aren't empty when the evening rush starts happening.
