Shamuga Rice Mundy

Shamuga Rice Mundy is located at 95, Pudupet Road, right near the Municipal Shopping area. It is a convenient spot for people doing their weekly shopping nearby. We deal mostly in bulk rice, selling it by the big sack to families and small eateries. The shop is basically a large warehouse with a small counter at the front for customers. It smells like grain and old wood in here all the time. We have different varieties of rice stacked up against the walls in tall piles. Some days are slow, and we just sit on the stools and watch the traffic go by on Pudupet Road. Other days, we are loading trucks all morning and don't have time for a break. It is physical work, mostly hauling heavy bags on our shoulders. I have got a bit of a bad back from years of doing this, but you get used to the weight. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that. If you want to buy from us, you just come by the shop. The Municipal Shopping area nearby brings in a lot of people, so we get a fair share of foot traffic. We keep a big scale near the door to weigh things out accurately. Sometimes the neighborhood kids come in looking for empty sacks to play with. We usually give them away for free. It is just a basic trade we have been doing for years.
