Selvavinayagam Stores

We are located at No 2/268 on Periyar Salai in Palavakkam. The shop is quite close to the Pillaiyar Koil, so we get a lot of people stopping by after they visit the temple. It’s a nice spot in Chennai, especially when the evening air starts to cool down. We keep the place stocked with all the usual groceries and household things. It’s not a very big store, so things are stacked pretty close together. Sometimes a bag of rice might be in the way, or we have to move a crate to let someone through. We spend our days weighing out items and bagging them up for the locals. It’s a bit of a repetitive job, but we like the routine of it. The street outside can get quite busy on festival days, which keeps us on our toes. We don't use any fancy systems to track things; we mostly just look at the shelves and see what is missing. My nephew helps out sometimes when it gets busy. We’ve been here long enough that we don’t really think about it much, it’s just where we go every morning. We close up when the street gets quiet and the temple lights go down. It’s just a simple, honest local business that has been here through the years without needing to change much.
