Selva Ganapathy Store

If you find yourself in Olympic Colony in Padi, you'll see us near the Selva Ganapathy Koil. We named the store after the temple because it's right there and everyone knows it. Our shop is a basic place where you can find your daily essentials. We keep things like soap, shampoo, rice, and different kinds of lentils. It’s a quiet neighborhood for the most part, though it gets a bit lively during temple festivals. We start our day early to receive the milk and newspaper deliveries. My father started this place, and now I’m the one mostly looking after it. We don't use any high-tech systems for our inventory. We just look at the shelves and see what's running low. Sometimes we forget to order something and have to apologize to the customers. It’s just how it is when you’re running things yourself. We have a small bench outside where some of the older men sit and talk sometimes. We don't mind. It feels like a community spot. The shop is a bit old, and the paint is peeling in some corners, but we keep it clean inside. We don’t put up big posters or try to act like a big grocery chain. We're just a local store in Chennai where you can get your groceries and move on with your day. It is simple but honest work.
