Saravana Prakash Store

Our little shop is located over at No.41/20 on Mannappa Street in Kotturpuram. We are quite close to the post office, so it’s easy for people to find us when they are out running errands. It is a bit of a quieter street compared to the main roads, which we actually prefer. Most of the people who come in are our neighbors who live in the apartments and houses nearby. We’ve known some of them for years. We mostly keep things like rice, lentils, oils, and the basic stuff you’d find in any local Chennai kitchen. The morning time is usually the busiest when everyone realizes they ran out of milk or something else for breakfast. We don’t have any big signs or anything flashy outside. Just the name and the stock on the shelves. Sometimes the crates get piled up a bit high near the entrance when the supplies arrive, but we clear them out pretty fast. It’s a small space, so we have to be organized. We spend our time talking to the regulars about the weather or the local news while we weigh out their orders. It’s a steady kind of life here on Mannappa Street. We just focus on keeping the shop ready for whoever walks in next, whether it’s for a small packet of biscuits or a full bag of groceries.
