People know where we are because we’re right on Eswaran Kovil Street. It’s been quite a few years since we first opened up here in Raji Nagar. Thoraipakkam has changed a lot, but this spot stays pretty much the same. We spend most of our day just checking the stocks and making sure the shelves aren't empty when someone comes in looking for something specific for their dinner. It gets dusty outside with all the bikes going past, but that's just how the neighborhood is. Sometimes it’s quiet, other times everyone comes at once. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. Just the usual things people need for their houses. It’s a small place, so we know most of the faces that walk through the door. If someone needs a particular brand of oil or just some soap, they usually find it here. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the deliveries come late and boxes sit around for a bit. It’s just how it goes when you’re running a small shop on your own. Most of our mornings are spent unpacking stuff. The heat in Chennai can be a bit much in the afternoons, so we keep the fan running and wait for the evening rush. It’s a simple life here on the street. We’ve been at 4/175 for a long time now. People stop by after visiting the temple nearby. It’s just us doing what we do every day.
