Sai Vee Mart

Sai Vee Mart is our little shop located at 22, Virugambakkam. If you live in this part of town, you probably know where we are. It’s a neighborhood spot where people come when they realize they forgot to buy salt or milk for their morning coffee. We stay open pretty late because we know folks get home from work and still need things. The aisles are a bit narrow because we try to fit a lot of different items in a small space. We have snacks, household goods, and some basic groceries. It’s mostly just family members working the counter. Sometimes my son is there, or my wife. We don't have those fancy scanners or big neon signs like the malls do. We just use a basic register and try to remember everyone's name. The street can get quite congested with all the cars and bikes, especially in the evenings. We spend a lot of time restacking the shelves and checking what is running low. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day, but we like talking to the neighbors. It feels good to be a part of the daily routine for the people living around Virugambakkam. We don't have a grand plan for world domination. We just want to keep the shelves full and the shop running smoothly for whoever walks through the door next.
