S R General Stores

S R General Stores is found at No 10/16, Flower Street, in Saidapet, Chennai. We are located right opposite the Tamilnadu Open University, which makes our shop a bit of a landmark for students and staff. The street is quite narrow and can get very busy during the day. Our store is long and narrow, filled with everything from stationery and notebooks to soaps and snacks. Since we are across from the university, we sell a lot more pens and paper than a typical grocery store might. The morning hours are usually the most hectic when everyone is rushing to their classes or offices. I’ve been running the place for a long time, and the wooden counter is worn down from years of use. Saidapet is an old part of Chennai, and Flower Street has its own character. When it rains, the road gets quite messy, and we have to put out old sacks to keep the mud from coming inside. We don't have any big marketing or fancy signs. There’s just the name board above the entrance. Most of our business comes from the people who walk past us every day. I usually take a small break in the afternoon when it’s quiet before the evening crowd starts. It’s a simple, steady business. We aren't trying to be a supermarket; we just want to be the local shop where people can find what they need quickly.
