Rutland Day Saloon

This saloon is located at No 6, on Rutland Gate 2nd Street in Nungambakkam. It is tucked around the back side of the Apollo Children Hospital. Because of the hospital nearby, the street gets a lot of foot traffic, but our specific corner stays somewhat calm. The 600034 area is quite central. The shop itself is a basic day saloon. We have the usual equipment, some older basins for hair washing, and a few stations for cutting. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the one out front that’s been there for years. Inside, we keep a few chairs for waiting and a small table with water. The staff likes to sit near the door when it’s quiet to catch a bit of a breeze. We have a routine of cleaning the tools every evening before we head home. The floor is easy to sweep, which is good because it gets messy fast. Sometimes the relatives of people at the hospital come in for a quick shave or to wash their hair. It’s a practical location for that. We don't use any high-tech gadgets, just regular scissors, razors, and dryers. It’s a small operation run by people who have lived in Chennai their whole lives. We know the neighborhood well and just try to provide a simple, honest place for people to get groomed.
