Abirami Caterers

Our kitchen is tucked away at No 32/5 on Kesava Perumal Kovil Street. If you go behind Chitra Kolam in Mylapore, you’ll likely smell what we’re cooking. We started Abirami Caterers because we liked making food for people, and it just turned into a full-time job for the whole family. Mylapore is a busy place, especially around the temples, so we stay pretty active most days of the week. We don't have a big office or a reception desk. Usually, you’ll find us in the back checking on the spice levels or packing up tiffin boxes. Sometimes things get a bit chaotic when three orders come in at once, but we’ve learned how to handle the pressure over the years. We use the recipes that have been in our family for a long time. There's no secret to it, just using decent ingredients and not rushing the process. The street can be narrow, so getting the delivery van out sometimes takes a bit of patience. We’ve known the neighbors here for ages, and they often drop by just to say hello. It's not a corporate operation at all. We just make sure the food is clean and tastes right. If someone wants a specific dish for their kid’s birthday, we try our best to get it done exactly how they want it. It's a lot of work but we like being part of the community here.
