Our office is on Third Street in Sakthivijaya Laxmi Nagar. It’s a residential neighborhood mostly, so it’s quieter than the main Velachery roads. We are at 49/A, a small building that stays busy during the day. We have boxes arriving and leaving all the time, which sometimes blocks the narrow street for a minute. The neighbors don't seem to mind too much since we’ve been here so long. It gets quite hot in Chennai, so we have fans going all day in the packing area. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking emails to make sure things are going where they need to go. It’s a small team here, just a handful of us doing everything from checking the quality to sticking the labels on. We don't have a big corporate lobby or anything, just a front desk and some chairs. Sometimes we have tea brought in from the stall at the corner. It’s a lot of coordination and sometimes things get delayed at the port, which makes for a stressful afternoon. We try to stay organized with our ledgers and notebooks. It’s simple work but it keeps us on our toes. Walking to the main road for lunch is a bit of a chore in the sun, so we usually just bring boxes from home and eat together. It’s a decent place to work and we know everyone on the street by name, which makes it feel like home.
