Inner Lights (The Candle Shop)

We’re Inner Lights, but most people around here just know us as The Candle Shop. You can find us at Spencer Plaza, which is a big old landmark on Anna Salai. Specifically, we’re up on the second floor of Phase-II, in shop S-66-C. Spencer Plaza has a lot of history, and you can really feel it when you walk through the older halls. Our shop is a bit of a quiet spot compared to the noise of the traffic on Anna Salai outside. We spend our time surrounded by different scents and wax and wick. It’s a small space, so it gets crowded pretty quickly if more than a few people come in at once. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything. It’s mostly just us handling the stock and talking to whoever wanders in. Sometimes the mall is empty and quiet, and other times it’s packed with students or tourists looking around. We’ve seen Spencer Plaza change quite a bit over the years, with new shops coming and old ones leaving for good. Being on the second floor means people have to look for us a bit, but we don't mind that. It feels a bit more personal and private that way. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Chennai. We’re just Inner Lights, doing our thing in a corner of an iconic building. The lights in the mall can be a bit dim in our section, but it suits the candles and the whole mood of the shop.
