M K M Exports

Our place is on Kattur Sadayapan Street in Periamet. It is an old part of the city and things are pretty cramped around here. No. 34 is where we do all our export work for M K M Exports. We handle a lot of different goods that need to go overseas. The office is usually full of boxes and rolls of packing tape. We spend a lot of time on the phone with the shipping agents down at the port. It is not a glamorous job at all. We have to make sure every box is labeled right and the weight is exactly what it should be. Sometimes the humidity here in Periamet makes the cardboard boxes a bit soft, so we have to be really careful with how we stack them. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the trucks to show up in the narrow lane. The street is so tight that sometimes the drivers have a very hard time turning around. It is a lot of manual work, checking lists and making sure the counts are right before we close the containers for the day. We have been at this spot for quite some time now. Everyone around here knows we are the ones dealing with the big wooden crates. We just try to get the work done without too many mistakes or delays. It is just a regular business.
