Rani Lady Meyyammai Higher Secondary School

If you find yourself on 4th Main Road in Adyar, you will likely see our building on Ramachandra Adithanar Street. This part of Chennai gets very busy in the mornings. We have been operating from this spot at New No 30/75 for many years. It is a higher secondary school, so we have the older kids who are getting ready for their final exams and the younger ones who are still just running around during the breaks. The building has seen a lot of students come and go. We have a routine that does not change much. The bell rings, the gates open, and then the whole place fills up with noise. It is quite a contrast to how quiet it gets in the evenings after everyone has gone home. The staff room is usually a mess of papers and lunch boxes. We try to keep the courtyard clean, but with so many people, there is always something to do. Adyar is a nice area, and being near the main road means it is easy for the buses to get here. We spend our time checking attendance, making sure the classrooms have enough chalk, and dealing with the usual daily issues that pop up in a school. It is not always perfect, and sometimes the fans are a bit noisy, but we are here every day. There is no point making it sound fancier than it is; we just teach the kids and keep things moving.
