Rajesh Provision Store

Mylapore is a place with a lot of history, and Rakkiyappan Street is one of those narrow, busy roads that feels like old Chennai. Our shop, Rajesh Provision Store, is right in the middle of it. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. Most people find us because they live nearby or their parents used to shop here. We sell things like rice, pulses, sugar, and the spices you need for daily cooking. It’s a small space, so we have to stack things all the way to the ceiling sometimes. Dealing with the wholesalers and getting the bags into the shop through the narrow street is always a bit of a struggle. But we’ve been doing it for years, so we’re used to the routine. We know who wants the premium rice and who is looking for a bargain. The shop stays cool because of the thick walls, which is nice in the summer. We don’t really do any advertising. Word of mouth from the neighbors is how we keep going. It’s just me and a couple of others helping out. We spend the day weighing out portions and chatting with the regulars who stop by for their daily milk or bread. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy from morning till night. We’re just a regular part of the street life here in Mylapore. It's not about being the biggest shop in Chennai, just about being the one that's there when someone needs a bag of sugar.
