Raja Stores

Our shop is located on Paper Mills Road, right across from Spectrum Mall. People get confused with the address sometimes because of the old and new numbers on the board, but once you see the mall, we are right there. It is a general store where we stock most of the things a household needs for their daily life. Soap, rice, and small snacks for the kids fill up the racks. Being near the mall means it stays crowded till late at night, which keeps us on our toes. My brother and I take turns at the counter most days. Some wooden shelves have been there since we first opened, and they have seen better days, but they hold the weight of the goods just fine. Often, customers come in just to grab something they forgot during their big weekly grocery run at the supermarket. We know the neighbors by name and what they usually like to buy on a Tuesday or a Friday. It is not a big supermarket where you walk around with a cart yourself. Just tell us what you need and we get it for you from the back or the top shelves. When it is raining hard, people often huddle under our small awning until it stops. We do not mind that at all. It is just how things are in this part of Perambur. Street noise is constant, but you get used to it after a few weeks of working here and chatting with the people.
