Nellai Nadar Matriculation Higher Secondary School

Our school is located in Kottivakkam, at number 3/590, which is a fairly busy part of Chennai. Being in this city means there is always a lot of movement and noise outside our gates. The school has been part of this neighborhood for a long time. It is a tall building because space is tight in Chennai, so we had to build upwards rather than outwards. We have students from all over the local area, ranging from the little kids in primary all the way up to the older ones finishing their higher secondary studies. The classrooms are filled with the usual desks and wooden benches. It gets quite loud during the breaks, but the teachers are used to the energy. We follow the matriculation system, so there is a lot of focus on the textbooks and making sure the entire syllabus is covered by the end of the year. There isn't a massive field for sports, but we have a courtyard where the kids gather for assembly and some physical activity. The staff room is usually a mess of papers and notebooks, which is typical for a busy school like ours. People know us in Kottivakkam as a place that has been around and just does its job. We do not have fancy air conditioning in every room, just the fans spinning overhead. It is a practical place for students to come and learn their lessons. Every afternoon, the street gets crowded.
