Madha Stores

Madha Stores is located right here in Thabal Petti, Madhavaram. It has been at No 116 for a long time now. We handle a bit of everything, mostly the small things people need for their kitchens every single day. I start my day by sweeping the front step and getting the milk packets ready for the morning rush. People in Chennai really like their early morning coffee, so that is always our busiest time. The shop itself is not very large, so we have to stack the boxes pretty high. Sometimes I worry a tin might fall, but we have gotten very good at balancing things over the years. We carry soaps, matches, flour, and the usual snacks that the kids like to buy after school is over. It is a local spot where neighbors often stop to chat for a minute while they are paying for their goods. I know most of the people who live around here by their first names. We do not have any big neon signs or bright lights, just the stuff on the shelves. Sometimes the stock takes a few extra days to arrive from the distributors, so we just tell people to check back later. It is a very simple routine. I take a short break in the afternoon when it gets quiet and the sun is high. Then it picks up again when everyone is heading back home. We just sell what is useful.
