Lingam Stores

Lingam Stores is over in Perungudi at 15, Kamarajar Nagar. We are right near the Lake View Building, which is a good landmark if you are looking for us for the first time. The shop has been in this spot for a good bit of time now. Chennai gets very hot, so we usually keep the door open to let whatever breeze there is come inside. We sell all sorts of household goods that people in Kamarajar Nagar need. It’s a simple setup with wooden shelves and some glass jars for the smaller items. We don't have a fancy display or bright lights, just the usual tube lights that sometimes flicker. Sometimes the stock takes a while to arrive from the distributors, so the shelves might look a little bare for a day or two. The neighborhood kids come in for snacks, and the older folks come for their cooking supplies. We spend a lot of time just chatting with the people who live nearby. The Lake View Building brings in some people who aren't from this exact street, too. It is a quiet enough place except when the traffic picks up on the main road. We keep our own hours and usually stay open until quite late. It's a bit of a climb for the delivery guys because of the step out front. We just do our bit every day here in Chennai and hope the rain stays away.
