Lady Willingdon Higher Secondary School

Lady Willingdon Higher Secondary School is located at the very start of Dr Besant Road in Triplicane. It’s right near the beach, so you can sometimes feel a bit of a salt breeze if the wind is blowing the right way. Triplicane is a very old and crowded part of Chennai, so the streets around us are always packed with people and shops. Our school has a lot of history to it. You can see it in the way the arches are built and the size of the old doors. It doesn’t feel like those new schools made of glass and steel. It feels solid and permanent. We have a lot of students, and the place really comes alive when the first bell rings at the start of the day. The classrooms are simple with high windows to let the light in. We don’t have fancy furniture, just the basic stuff that works. The staff room is a busy place where we all squeeze in to have our lunch and talk about the day’s lessons. We don't use any flashy language to describe what we do. We just come here every morning, teach the classes, and make sure the girls are following the rules. It’s a lot of hard work keeping a big school running in such a busy area, but we’ve been doing it a long time now and we know the neighborhood well.
