Jebamani Stores

Our address is Old No 7, New No 15, on Munusamy Street in Pazhavanthangal. The change in numbers still confuses some of the delivery drivers, but the locals know where we are. It’s a quiet residential street in this part of Chennai, away from the main road noise. We’ve been operating out of this small building for years. The front door sticks a bit when it’s humid, and the counter is getting a bit smooth from years of use. We mostly sell the basic stuff like soap, oil, and lentils. It’s the kind of place where kids come in with a few coins to buy sweets after school. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. Most of our work is just keeping things clean and making sure the stock doesn't get old. Sometimes we sit out front on a plastic chair when there aren't any customers. We know who is getting married in the neighborhood or whose kids are back from college because everyone talks while they shop. It’s not a fast-paced life, but it keeps us busy enough. We don't try to be anything other than a corner store. When the sun goes down, we pull the gate shut and that is the end of another day on Munusamy Street. It is a quiet way to earn a living for us and we enjoy the neighbors.
