Jayam Stores

Jayam Stores is situated at No 65 on Murugapan Street. We are in the Puludivakkam-Madipakkam area of Chennai. It’s a residential neighborhood, so we see a lot of the same faces every day. We started this shop to provide the basic stuff like rice, dal, oil, and household things so people wouldn't have to go all the way to the main market. The shop is on a regular street, not a main road, so it’s a bit quieter here. We don’t have fancy shelves or lighting. It’s just a simple place where we keep the daily essentials. My son and I handle everything from stocking the goods to talking to the customers. We don’t have a big delivery van or anything, but we help the elderly neighbors if they can't carry heavy bags. We keep a notebook for people who pay at the end of the month. That’s just how things work in a place like this. The street can get a bit cramped when the school van comes by, but otherwise, it's peaceful. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in Chennai. We just want to be the store our neighbors can depend on. We open early so people can get milk and eggs before work. It’s a basic life, and we are happy with it. We just keep things moving and try to stay stocked up on what everyone needs for their kitchen.
