Immanuel General Stores

We are located at 4/389 on VOC Street in Thoraipakkam. Most people know us because we are right by the PTC Quarters. It’s a decent spot to be in. We deal with general items, so you’ll find everything from batteries to rice here. The street gets quite lively in the evenings when everyone is coming back from their jobs. We spend our time checking the dates on packets and sweeping the front of the shop. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful about how we stack things. Sometimes a stack of biscuit boxes might lean a bit, but we fix it eventually. We aren't a big supermarket, just a local store for the people living in 600096. It’s nice being part of the community. We see the kids growing up and coming in to buy sweets. The weather in Chennai can make things tough, especially when it rains and the water starts to pool on VOC street. We just put out some sandbags and keep going. We don’t have a website or any fancy marketing. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the first customer. It’s a straightforward way to live. We’ve been here for years and we plan to stay right here at the same address. It’s just home to us now and we know everyone around here. We just try to stay stocked with the daily essentials.
