Hot & Cold Snacks

You can find us on Prakasam Road in Broadway, not far from Lone Square. This part of Chennai is always moving, with all the shops and people heading to the station or the market. We opened this snacks place because people always need something quick while they’re out. It’s number 116 on Philips Street if you’re looking for the exact door. We keep it pretty basic here. Some snacks are hot and some are cold, which is why we picked the name, I guess. It wasn't a very creative choice, but it works for what we do. The shop is small and it gets quite hot in the summers, but we have a fan that helps a little bit. We get a lot of workers from the nearby offices and shops during their tea breaks. It’s nice to see the same people every day. We know their usual orders before they even speak a word. I usually get the supplies from the wholesale market nearby early in the morning. It’s a lot of work carrying bags and setting things up before the sun gets too high. We don't use any fancy machines, just what we need to get the job done. Sometimes the street gets flooded when it rains heavily, but we stay open as long as we can. It’s just a regular Chennai snack stall, nothing more to it really. We like being part of the noise in Broadway. It’s home.
