Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School

If you’ve ever spent time in T Nagar, you know how hectic Sir Thiyagaraya Road can get. Our school is at No 107, and it’s been there for a long time. Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School is a bit of a landmark for people who grew up around here. It isn't a quiet spot by any means. There are always buses and cars honking right outside the gates. Inside the walls, though, it’s just a regular school day. We have the old wooden desks and the sound of chalk on boards, though things are changing slowly. The staff room is usually a mess of papers and half-finished coffee cups. We don't spend much time worrying about looking polished for the public. We’re more concerned with making sure the students are actually in their seats when the morning assembly starts. T Nagar is a busy shopping hub, so the energy from the market spills over a bit. It’s a local institution, and most families in the area have had at least one cousin or sibling come through these doors. We don't have any grand statements to make about what we do. We just follow the curriculum and try to keep the building in decent shape despite the humidity. It’s a lot of work keeping a place like this running, but we just take it one day at a time. No 107 is just where we happen to be.
